Win! Kmart removes porn themed products from shelves

Kmart has confirmed it will be removing porn themed birthday cards from its shelves after Collective Shout supporter, Jayden Battey, spoke out.

Jayden posted on our Facebook page:

"I'm pretty disappointed in Kmart Australia for having this card stocked on shelves, easily visible to small children. Shocking that they think it's appropriate to stock cards in their party section that directly support an industry known for its violation of women's rights."

Many people commented on the post pointing out that the product was not aligned with Kmart's family friendly values.

Collective Shout also emailed Kmart sending in a picture of the card asking for comment. We received a reply this afternoon:

"Hi Coralie,

Thank you for contacting us regarding this product. We sincerely apologise for the disappointment this has caused.

This has been bought to our attention and have addressed this with the supplier to remove this from our stores.

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to you and if you have any further concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us on 1800 124 125.

Kind regards,

Gemma"

Today Jayden wrote on the post:

"Update: Kmart has just called this morning and is taking them off shelves. They have also said they will speak to their supplier about the breach of appropriateness. So glad."

Silence is the language of complicity, speaking out is the language of change. Thank you Jayden for taking action. A great example for others in the community.
