The Right to Childhood, Sydney April 29

Collective Shout is proud to co-sponsor the Right 2 Childhood Conference in Sydney April 29.

The conference will examine the convergence of sex, violence, the media, commerce and popular culture, its impact on our children and what we can do about it.

The aim of this event is to provide up-to-date and authoritative information from leading experts, share initiatives and strategies to facilitate understanding and awareness and empower participants with practical skills to address this crucial social issue.

Dr Ramesh Manocha, Convenor and Chairman:

The erosion of childhood is becoming a social and cultural trend of great concern to child development experts as well as the broader community. Commercialisation, sexualisation, body image dissatisfaction and over exposure to violent imagery are some of the key factors. A growing body of scientific evidence and expert opinion has transformed the debate about this trend into an important issue with major implications for mental health, public health, education and policy. We look forward to meeting you at this unique event.

Speakers include psychologist and author, Steve Biddulph, author Maggie Hamilton, academic Emma Rush, founder of Kids Free 2 B Kids Julie Gale, anti-violence campaigner Nina Funnell, and our own Collective Shout founders Melinda Tankard Reist, Lydia Jade Turner, and Sarah McMahon.

The conference will be held at the Wesley Conference Centre, Sydney on Friday the 29th of April. It would be great to see you there!
