How to traffic women: Andrew Tate’s guide for wannabe pimps hosted by Spotify

Misogynist influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate are facing charges and ongoing investigations pertaining to sexual misconduct and human trafficking, including trafficking of minors and rape.

Despite multiple and credible allegations of sexual violence, abuse and sex trafficking – backed up by Andrew Tate’s own words – streaming service Spotify is hosting Tate’s instructional courses for prospective pimps and traffickers. The courses advise men on how to recruit and sell women on pornographic websites, or as Tate calls it, “pimpin’ hoes”. Some courses require a paid subscription in order to access them, allowing the uploader to profit - as well as Spotify.

We are calling on Spotify to remove Andrew Tate’s harmful courses on how to traffic women as a matter of urgency!

The background:

Investigations and charges over sex trafficking

In June 2023, the brothers and two Romanian women were charged with trafficking women across Romania, Britain and the US and forming an organised crime group. Court documents identify seven women who said the brothers misled them into believing they wanted to pursue romantic relationships with them, and that they were forced to produce pornographic content that was posted online. Andrew Tate was also charged with rape. The Romanian indictment was blocked by the Tates and has gone back to prosecutors, who have confirmed they are also investigating trafficking of minors and ‘sexual intercourse with a minor’. (Note: ‘Sexual intercourse with a minor’ is the criminal charge, but the more accurate terminology for sexual contact involving a minor is rape or sexual abuse.)

In March 2024, the brothers were taken into custody in Romania due to a new European arrest warrant over accusations of “sexual aggression” made between 2012 and 2015. Four British women have also brought a civil suit against Andrew Tate, alleging he raped and abused them.

Just this month, American woman ‘Jane Doe’ brought a civil lawsuit against the brothers after alleging she was lured to Romania under the guise of a romantic relationship with Tristan, where she was put in a house with several other women who were creating content for OnlyFans. When a friend called the US Embassy in Romania, she was rescued and cooperated with Romanian authorities, and alleges she has since been subjected to relentless harassment, threats and legal action by Andrew and Tristan.

Control, deception and coercion: Tate’s advice to prospective pimps

Andrew Tate claims to have made a lot of money selling women – bragging about pimping 75 women at one point – and teaches other men how they can do the same. His courses, currently available on Spotify, cover how to manipulate women, play psychological games with them, and establish dominance and control over them. “She needs to learn it’s easier to obey,” Tate tells listeners.

Tate recruits women under the pretence of a romantic relationship, which is also known as the ‘loverboy’ or ‘romeo’ pimp method. He advises wannabe pimps and traffickers to have sex with the woman prior to raising webcamming with her, arguing that women need to be in love with him to ensure their loyalty and compliance.

Tate instructs listeners on how to deceive women into participating. He pitches a potential job as a manager and then tells her she “needs to know the business first” to get her performing on camera. He promises to give her a fake name and location so that nobody recognises her. He lies. Someone will recognise her eventually, he says, but by then it will be too late. He offers to provide a screenshot documenting his high earnings from OnlyFans for listeners to claim as their own when recruiting women, as proof they are an “OnlyFans expert”.

Tate says he keeps the woman’s earnings, giving her only a small cut, and assures her he is paying her taxes – but he does not.

Tate advises controlling the woman’s OnlyFans and social media accounts, encouraging male listeners to set up the OnlyFans account on their own phone, not hers, to ensure they have complete control.

To grow the business, Tate convinces the woman – who believes she is his girlfriend – that they could make more money with more women involved. He brings along a new woman – who he has had sex with, and who also believes they are romantically involved – and it is the first woman’s job to recruit her, telling her how great it is to work for Tate, how much money she makes, and about the gifts men send her. Tate emphasises it has to be another woman recruiting new women to be most effective.

Not only do these courses document Tate’s own sexual exploitation of women, he equips eager prospective pimps and traffickers with the tools to exploit women for profit themselves. Tate also offers consulting services, to help them get set up and to produce promotional videos in order to recruit women. These courses incite violence and abuse against women.

Spotify’s failure to keep app safe

We've previously called out Spotify for hosting explicit audio porn, hardcore porn images and sexually explicit fanfiction – while claiming to be appropriate for listeners aged 13+. The streaming service also featured on our global partner NCOSE’s 2024 ‘Dirty Dozen’ list. NCOSE argued that not only had Spotify failed to take any meaningful action, but the problem had gotten worse. NCOSE found hardcore pornography, what appeared to be Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), deepfake pornography of female celebrities, and self-harm imagery.

We’re calling on Spotify to take down all of Tate's instructional trafficking courses: PHD ("Pimpin Hoes Degree"), Webcam, and OnlyFans Fortunes and ensure Tate cannot use their platform to profit from crimes against women.
