CEASE report exposes reality of predatory online porn industry

Our colleagues at CEASE UK have just released this significant report exposing the reality of the predatory online pornography industry which “consistently puts profit over people”. Introducing the report, CEASE writes:

Over the past 20 years, a vast, global porn industry has sprung up online. Known as “Big Porn”, it is dominated by a few massive tech companies that largely evade scrutiny and regulation.

.…Free from oversight, these online porn platforms have amassed huge profits from videos of real rape, abuse and other non-consensual sex acts.

Younger generations are growing up in a hypersexualised culture which is being profoundly shaped by violent, racist, misogynistic online porn. Why? Because the porn industry has been given a free pass from regulation and accountability. Until now.

The report references work by Collective Shout's Melinda Tankard Reist and Caitlin Roper, citing Melinda's book Big Porn Inc: Exposing the Harms of the Global Porn Industry, co-edited by Abigail Bray, and quoting an op ed by Caitlin published in the Huffington Post, Parents Vs The Porn Industry Isn't A Fair Fight
