A supporter alerted us to a Perth store flogging Pornhub t-shirts after spotting this one on a mannequin in a city mall shop window.
The retailer – Wasteland - is a spin-off of vintage retailer Cheep.
According to an Instagram post, Cheep started stocking the shirts in November 2023, in response to customer demand.
We wondered if Cheep had been asleep the last five years and completely missed the #traffickinghub movement to shut Pornhub down and hold its executives accountable for crimes including child sexual abuse, sex trafficking and image based abuse.
Tens of thousands of victims of child sexual abuse are reportedly suing Pornhub for hosting, distributing and monetising their abuse content. Pornhub is synonymous with exploitation and abuse of women and children – why would ANY retailer be promoting it?
We called on Cheep to pull Pornhub t-shirts from sale and remove related social media posts.
Our supporters went into quick action, leaving reviews and comments on socials to hold Cheep accountable.
Thanks to their massive effort, in less than 24 hours, Cheep responded to us to confirm it had removed all Pornhub tees from sale.
In a positive statement, Cheep said they “understand how offensive this is” and were aiming to take immediate action:
“Thanks for reaching out and spreading awareness, please know we’re taking this on.”
Thanks to our amazing supporters for speaking out, and bringing us another step closer to a world free of sexploitation!
