Despite widespread community concern and calls to cancel their latest Playboy-themed party, Falvey’s Hotel Yamanto has refused to take responsibility.
Instead of engaging with legitimate concerns, they responded by deleting comments, blocking critics, and posting inflammatory messages ridiculing community members - calling them “woke, miserable Karens” and saying “F**k you” to concerned locals.

From Schoolgirl Themes to Playboy Parties - The Pattern Is Clear
Falvey’s history of sexualised advertising reflects a clear and ongoing strategy of using the sexual objectification of women as a marketing tool.
That’s why we’ve sent a formal letter to Queensland Tourism and Events and Discover Ipswich, both of which currently promote Falvey’s Hotel Yamanto as a ‘premier venue’.
In our letter, we highlighted Falvey’s history, including:
- A “Back to School” themed nightclub event encouraging women to dress in hyper-sexualised schoolgirl outfits.
- “Honky Tonk” nights featuring near-naked cowgirl imagery.
- Upcoming “Playboy Party” encouraging patrons to dress as a “bunny” or “Hef” glamorising a brand with a long-documented history of sexual exploitation - including underage girls.
In the letter we also stated:
Queensland families, women, and young people deserve better. Featuring venues like Falvey’s sends the message that profit is prioritised over the dignity and safety of women and girls.
We encourage you to take a stand for the kind of tourism Queensland should be known for - one that champions respect, safety, and community wellbeing.

What you can do
Public tourism platforms should not be promoting venues that mock women, glamorise sexual exploitation, and shut down community concerns - take action.
Email Queensland Tourism and Events and Discover Ipswich and urge them to remove Falvey’s Hotel Yamanto from their websites.
Let them know that venues promoting the sexual objectification of women should not be endorsed by public, family-friendly tourism platforms.
The Harms Go Beyond the Poster
Falvey’s isn’t just selling tickets. They’re selling a culture that tells women and girls their value lies in how sexualised and submissive they can be - while deriding anyone who dares to challenge it.
Enough is enough. The community has spoken - now we’re asking Queensland’s tourism bodies to do the same.
