Sexual harassment and abuse are not confined to the film industry, many examples of high-profile celebrities getting away with sexual assault have surfaced in the last decade. For instance, David Bowie and his participation in the “baby groupies” scene of the 1970s, where he took the virginity of a 14-year-old, is hardly spoken about as a predatory sexual act. Another incident took place on the October 9^th, 1987 where a woman accused him of sexual assault backstage of one of his concerts. Bowie was acquitted of all charges.
