Last month we reported that Chinese online marketplace Temu was selling child sex abuse dolls, torsos and disembodied doll heads - all marketed for men’s sexual use.
After just a few weeks, and because supporters spoke out, Temu has removed these exploitative products from its platform. The company has even blocked the search terms "child sex doll" and "girl sex doll".
We’ve previously spoken out on the harms of child sex abuse dolls, which serve to normalise and legitimise men’s sexual use and abuse of children.
We reject the claim made by doll defenders that child sex abuse dolls could prevent men’s abuse of children by providing them with a sexual outlet. As we noted in our recent submission to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Sale and Sexual Exploitation of Children, rape and child sexual abuse are not prevented by encouraging men to practice on replica children.
We will continue to monitor Temu to make sure they remain vigilant in keeping these exploitative products off their platform.
Thanks again for speaking out – we couldn’t do it without you!
