Sexist advertising in Victoria could soon be banned by legislation.
It's part of a new gender equality strategy.
Any law would likely impact Wicked Campers and their controversial van slogans, which Neil Mitchell branded as "grubby, vulgar, racist and deliberately offensive."
But would banning them by law set a dangerous and complicated precedent?
"What about the mockery of men?" the 3AW Mornings host questioned.
"There wouldn't be an ad involving a dad that doesn't send him up - he can't boil water, he can't care for the baby, he can't hammer a nail - dads are sent-up endlessly.
"Should that be banned? Or are we only sensitive about offending women?"
Melinda Tankard Reist is a co-founder of Collective Shout and has been campaigning against the slogans on Wicked Campers for some time.
She told Neil Mitchell all offensive messages in advertising should be banned.
"We're opposed to it, regardless of who it's done to," she said.
"It needs to stop."
